In existence since 1880, PPA has an established, trustworthy reputation in the photographic industry.
The majority of our more than 22,000 members are small business owners doing all types of photography, primarily serving consumers directly with portraits and wedding photos. These photographers join PPA for unrivaled business and photographic education, the many member benefits (from malpractice-type protection to referral databases), the exclusive Copyright & Government Affairs department, educational and networking events like Imaging USA, the connection to peers willing to share advice and ideas, and so much more.
PPA also has 180 local, state, and regional affiliated organizations.

Since 1968, EPIC has been the nonprofit educational and scientific organization dedicated to the advancement of evidence and forensic photography and videography. In 2007, they joined the Alliance of Visual Artists (AVA) and its group of photography associations (PPA, SEP, CPI, and SPS).
EPIC members are evidence photographers in law enforcement and other public service agencies, joining for the education, certification, and resources they need to develop skills and knowledge in their specific fields.

SPS was created to assist photographic students and educators with information, resources, and programs that further the educational experience and support the transition from student to professional photographer (in all disciplines of professional photography).
Members (about 1,000 strong) include both students and educators in 300 different colleges, universities, and trade schools.
